Some biological causes can also lead to panic attacks, among them obsessive compulsive disorders, post traumatic stress, vitamin B deficiency and the list can go on.
Phobias will also cause panic attacks and there are also many short-term triggering causes that include significant personal loss, different life changes and stimulants such as caffeine or nicotine. One important life change can be considered a layoff. Individuals might develop an anxiety attack if they are laid off from work.
When an individual gets laid off, it can be an important shock. Unwillingly, the individual will link it with different other aspects of his/her life. You start thinking about possible lack of money and the fact that it might be difficult to get a new job. If you are over 40 years old there is also a constant belief going on around the world that nobody will hire you again.
If you have a spouse and children, lack of money can be very disturbing. As we all know, money is very important in our lives these days and as you get laid off you start to think about lack of money and how this leads to all sorts of problems in the future and also how this fact can prevent you from getting another job.
Keeping a positive mindset in these kind of events can be very difficult. On the bright side, you’ll find that there are specialists that can help you, unfortunately these cost money, which you might not have. This is a nasty circle and anxiety can take over. Evebtually this might lead to panic attacks, which can be very strong and can even cause long term psychological effects.
Process For Layoff
In most cases a layoff means that the company needs to cut down costs and needs to fire people in order to survive. There are also remote cases where other reasons for laying off an individual can be a reality but we are not going to talk about that now. Smaller companies will rarely have the means to offer valuable compensation to the individual that is laid off.
These circumstances can lead to anxiety and panic attacks. If the company is larger, they can offer certain amounts of money as a “gift”. These are not usually very large, but at least it can make a difference for your life while you are looking for another job.
The most important thing for an individual to do after being laid off is to talk about it with friends and family. That can be very helpful and can help that person to avoid anxiety and panic attacks altogether. If you have a friend or a family member who has been laid off offer him/her your support and talk with him.
We, as human beings, have the means to help or destroy others. In these kind of cases, aiding another person is the thing you should do. Anxiety and panic attacks are not easy to deal with and if someone is suffering from them, he/she needs your full support. It is very simple; we have the means to help our friends and family members when they have bad times, like lay offs, in their life. In return, they can help us if and when the need raises.
