Panama Offshore Corporations - Anonymity in the Business World

Friday, November 30th, 2007
by Raymond Bilderburg

Panama offshore corporations are the most anonymous in the world. You can conduct all the business you would in your home country, all while knowing that your assets are safe and silently put away. Usually anonymity in the business world spells the end of a business, but not when you are looking to protect your assets. Panama has strict secrecy laws to ensure that this is a reality.

Panama corporations can either be owned by foundations, or they are owned by the persons who physically hold the bearer shares. Panama law states the foundations have no owners, so in the case of foundation ownership of corporations, there would be a layered effect of anonymity making the “corporate veil” iron clad. In a bearer share corporation, the holder of the shares is not publicly recorded anywhere, so the owner can remain anonymous.

The only publicly recorded items are the articles of Incorporation. The articles of Incorporation for offshore corporations in Panama will list the directors of the corporation. These directors can be provided to you by your law firm. Any firm will provide nominee directors for the corporation. THey will also provided signed, undated letters of resignation to you so you can change the directors at any time. It should be noted that the names of the directors are publicly registered, so any director will have their names there for all to see. If anonymity is a priority stick with the nominee directors provided and anonymity can be guaranteed.

There are no income taxes on income generated outside of Panama, and there are no ways for any other government agencies to access any of the corporation information due to Panama secrecy laws. Corporations financial records and the bearer shares can be kept any where in the world. They are not registered or entered into the public record anywhere. There is only one annual fee that the Panama government charges for corporations and the amount is $300. Panama requires no minimum amount of paid in capital for a corporation, although most bank accounts require a minimum $1000 deposit.

When looking into offshore asset protection in the form of corporations, the strict secrecy and privacy laws of Panama are second to none.

The Prado - Non Art Buffs will Appreciate

Thursday, November 29th, 2007
by John Bakers

A trip to Madrid, Spain wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Museo del Prado, one of the most popular tourist sights in the country. If you’re an art buff then it’s a must see but even if you’re not the museum type you’re sure to enjoy its amazing collection of over 7,000 works of art.

The building and property are even a work of art with beautiful gardens and early 19th century architecture. The large part of the collection was gathered by Spanish nobility and has a heavy emphasis of the Spanish masters Goya, Velázquez and El Greco. Apart from these works of art there is also work by other European masters including Dutch, French and German; many of the works acquired by Spanish conquests.

If you’re an art connoisseur then you’ll want to take at least a day to enjoy all that the museum has to offer. Start on the ground floor with Italian works by Botticelli, del Sarto, and Corregio. Move on to works by possibly the first surrealist, Bosch. His works are amazingly modern and surreal for a 16th century artist. The next floor has Flemish art including work by Rubens and van Dyck.

The impressive Spanish collection is the highlight and works by Goya and El Greco are numerous. Goya painted in many different styles and on display is a full range.

Even if you’re not too keen on museums there is plenty to appreciate and there are many “must sees”. There is La Anunciacion by Fra Angelico and Titian’s Venus. Murillo’s three Immaculate Conceptions are a must see as well as Ruben’s Garden of Love and Three Graces. Goya’s Saturn Devouring One of His Sons as well as the clothed Maja and Naked Maja are some of the most popular pieces of Spanish art and costa blanca. Also popular is El Greco’s John the Baptist and The Resurrection which are painted in the artist’s unique style. The museum is constructing a new wing (delayed due to recent disagreements) to display much of its collection that is in storage. These include works by Zurbaran, Pereda and many others.

Before you go check out the museum’s website to research parts of its collection that interests you the most. Since there is so much to see, you might want to see your “must sees” and then spend the rest of the time strolling around if time permits. The website will also have the days and hours of operation; make sure you don’t plan a visit on a day it’s closed.

Whether or not you’re an art buff, you have to visit The Museo del Prado if you’re in Madrid. With the beautiful grounds, early 19th century architecture and huge art collection you won’t be disappointed.

Hikers - Mapping your Course

Thursday, November 29th, 2007
by Leroy Calstard

Hiking is an activity that takes planning and preparation. Experienced hikers know the importance of using a map to navigate a trail or find their location. Usually it’s the beginners who think that if they stay on the trail they’ll be fine but this isn’t always true. In forested areas you can easily get disoriented and loose your sense of direction. A map will help you find your way to your destination or at least back to where you started.

First off, make sure you have a current map of your hiking area. Before leaving the comfort of your home, study the map to get acquainted with the symbols; symbols aren’t universal and every map publisher has their own. Also find the legend of the map and determine the scale (1 inch equals one mile, for example). This will help your determine where you can travel to in the allotted time you’ve given yourself to hike.

Also take note of the altitude markings since these will have a major bearing on your route and how long it will take. Altitude markings or contour lines are the curvy lines around a mountain and the distance between these lines is an indication of the altitude and grade of the mountain. The closer together contour lines are the steeper the terrain.

In one of the corners of the map is a directional guide that will tell you which way is north, south, east and west. Once you’re at your murcia hiking location you can use a compass to orientate yourself with the map. As a rough guide you can also use natural direction indicators. During the day you can use the sun as a guide since it rises in the east and sets in the west. At night you can use the North Star as a reference. Again, these are not exact indicators but they will help you out if you’ve forgotten your compass or it’s damaged.

A good exercise is to use a map on a simple, well marked trail. Compare your map reading skills with the actual course and terrain. You will see where you’ve made errors and how to correct them.

Make sure you keep the map in good condition. Place it in a sealable bag so it won’t get wet if it rains. If you’ll be trekking in dark conditions, e.g. thick forest, then bring a flashlight.

Having a up to date map and being able to read it is essential to hiking. Make sure you plan and are prepared for your hike before you set off.

Madrid Holiday - Puerta del Sol

Thursday, November 29th, 2007
by Ray Walberg

Are you planning a holiday in Madrid, Spain? Surely your itinerary is extensive since Madrid has a lot to offer tourists. A good place to start your tour is Puerta del Sol (Gate of the Sun). It is one of the most popular tourist spots in this beautiful city for good reason; at its center lies a slab that marks the spot where the six main highways of Spain transverse. It’s also a good point to begin an exploration of this part of the old city.

Madrid, like many medieval towns of the 15th century, used to be surrounded by a protective wall and these gates were once the entrance to Madrid. At one time merchants and visitors passed through the gate and the area gradually grew to a meeting place for politicians from all over the world.

You will find a number of attractions located in its vicinity and the natural views of costa blanca. Start with the sculpture of the bear eating fruit from the madrone tree. Madrid is named after this plant and the bear is an important symbol for Madrilenos (people of Madrid). In front of the Regina Hotel, look at the statues atop the banks and the amazing architecture of the surrounding buildings.

Nearby are some of Madrid’s most important buildings. You’ll see a giant clock with clock faces on each side of the tower. Much like Times Square in New York, this is the place where New Year’s celebrations take place. There are also other festivals held here including the popular Twelve Grapes celebration. In this area is also a statue of Charles III and the Mariblanca statue of Venus (original is in the Municipal Museum).

Since this has long been a political focal point, you may see protests in this area. They are usually loud and interesting to see but rarely is there any violence.

In this area are many shops, restaurants, and bars that are at their busiest late at night. If you’re planning on a bar hop then know that locals don’t usually hit the bars until well after midnight (dinner starts at about 10 or later). The areas are also surrounded by cafes and street performers which make for a pleasant people watching opportunity and a rest for your tired feet.

A trip to Madrid will surely be an experience you won’t soon forget. Take your time, enjoy the Spanish atmosphere, and stroll through the center of Madrid starting at the Puerta del Sol.

Offshore Banking offers Many Financial Advantages

Thursday, November 29th, 2007
by Philip K. Morrison

Offshore banking is a practice that refers to working / banking with a bank located in a foreign country. Offshore banks work like normal banks, the primary difference being that they are located in another country than the one where the account holder lives. However, certain offshore bank locations can offer significant tax benefits.

Usually, offshore banks run their businesses with lower overheads as they often don’t have many branch locations and other complementary services. These banks pass on the savings thus resulting in savings to the account holders, in the form of various financial benefits. Some offshore banks even offer higher rates of interest on the deposits made.

Often considered to be strategically located, these banks are not required to follow all the rules that apply to normal banks. Offshore banks also offer increased privacy to the account holder, in accordance with bank secrecy, apart from various legal advantages.

Both companies and individuals can work with an offshore bank. Many large companies use offshore banking as a way of increasing profits. Individuals will often use offshore banking for the added privacy and the financial benefit.

Beneficiaries of Offshore Banking

Saving money on taxes is not the only reason to consider offshore banking. When purchasing real estate for example, one could have an offshore corporation own the real estate and pay a lower corporate tax rate on the asset.

You could also use your offshore bank account to; to own or lease equipment in the foreign country, maintain subsidiary business office(s) in the offshore location.

Why Offshore Banking?

One can, depending on his profession / occupation, nationality, purpose of offshore banking, etc, benefit from it because; it offers good international / foreign investment opportunities, one can get greater access to attractive highly flexible banking opportunities, it offers help with managing the risks related to one’s investment, it helps in managing a properly diversified investment portfolio, it can reduce one’s tax burdens, it offers more personal privacy, it helps in conducting a business confidentially, thus proving to be secure.

Their locations where taxes are nil or low (tax havens) help offshore banks to save on their own taxes, lower costs of operation, etc., help them to provide a secure banking solution to account holders. Besides financial and personal benefits related to personal and asset protection and privacy, offshore banks are also stable due to their nature of business.

As it can be seen, the world of offshore banking is easily accessible and available to a vast majority of the world’s population, and has a far reaching set of potential benefits to almost everyone who has need of them.

How Good is the iPhone Battery?

Thursday, November 29th, 2007
by David Smith

The Apple Ipod is the standard that most MP3 players try to live up to. While the new Apple iPhone marks Apple’s first foray into the market of smartphones. I’m sure the iPhone will be a success, the question is whether it will become as great a success for Apple as it’s Ipod, and become an industry standard.

The phone’s touch system is of course it’s most remarkable attribute. The commercials are everywhere and it seems that public consciousness has been altered by the stunning feature set of the phone. The iPhone is basically a smartphone with all kinds of multimedia capabilities. It plays Mp3’s, podcasts, videos, connects to the internet and does it all wirelessly. It offers two levels of storage, 4 gigabytes and 8 gigabytes, giving the user plenty of storage for all these multimedia capabilities. The phone is powered by a proprietary Apple battery.

Apple advertises very progressive battery life estimates. With up to 250 hours of standby time, and up to 8 hours of talk time. Even playing music, MP3’s, podcasts gives up to 24 hours of play time. And you can get up to 7 hours while playing videos.

The iPhone battery stands head and shoulders above it’s closer competitors. The iPhone battery is very impressive especially compared with what it’s competitors are able to deliver, it beats Nokia’s N95 easily, as the Nokia N95’s talk time life lasts four hours. The Samsung Blackjack has a talktime rating of 5.5 hours, the Blackberry Curve 8300 and the Palm Treo 750 both have a 4 hour talktime rating, and are completely outperformed by the Apple iPhone.

Apple obviously produced a very impressive product with these long talk times.

Not all is roses with the Apple iPhone however. The iPhone battery is internal and cannot be removed, while it’s competitors have easily replaceable batteries.

I’ve owned a Palm Treo for years. Myself and many other Treo users know about our battery life issues, for that reason I often have a battery replacement with me and charged. So in case the battery goes dead, I can quickly replace it with the backup battery. This cannot happen with the iPhone, you must recharge the battery to be able to use it again.

The other issue with the iPhone battery is that because of the nature of all batteries, they need replacing every few years. If that happens with an iPhone, you have to bring it to your local iStore, or iPhone shop to have it replaced by a technician.

So there you have it. The iPhone battery. Powerful, but with one weakness.

A Wealth Of Information For Getting Freebies Is Online

Thursday, November 29th, 2007
by Simon G. Harvey

There is no place in the “real” world where you can find thousands of freebies in one spot. The internet is the place for freebies. When a product can be downloaded, it doesn’t need to be shipped, meaning it can easily be given away for free. There are so many useful freebies out there; you probably don’t even know about half of them. But once you find them, they will change your day-to-day life.

Photos, Artwork, and Screensavers

Whether you are a web designer, a school teacher, or a small business owner, you are sure to find a wealth of free clipart and photographs to professionalize your websites and lesson plans. You can even tie your computer in with your home’s decor! There are many, many screensaver freebies online. Search for the one that will match your lifestyle.

Currency

Money is never free, right? Well, for the average business this is true. No one really gives out money, unless you are required to spend it on their products. The government is an exception to this rule. Uncle Sam has been giving away money for years, and far fewer people are in line for it as qualify. The internet is an excellent way to learn more about the best freebies in the world! Free money for tuition, business, artistic scholarships, etc.

Free to learn

Once you have finished college, with your free government money, you are not done learning. And you can learn anything and everything online, most of the time for free. Advance you current skills, or learn something new.

Testers and money savers

If you are looking to get your “hands” on something, many companies are more than willing to mail you many freebies sample. “Try before you buy” is the best way to shop, and is very beneficial to companies as well. If you are curious about a particular product, just visit their website to see if they are giving away freebies. If they are not willing to send a sample of their product, they will, more than likely, send a money saving coupon.

Music

The debate over whether or not music should be considered as freebies for the taking has been a hot topic over the past several years. Many artists and producers have decided, as a result, to give samples of their music away! Now, free downloads are a popular source of advertisement in today’s world of music. Of course, these artists still need you to purchases their music. But, to tempt you to do so, they will often offer you a few freebies.

Software

The freebies you would love to load onto your computer can usually be found, you just have to know where to look. Sometimes there just aren’t, or aren’t yet, any freebies for a particular type of software. When you find this to be the case, look around for a free trial version. Software can be very expensive, and it’s good to know exactly what you are getting before you buy.

From music and artwork, to money for school, the internet is chock-full of freebies to enrich your life. Take advantage of these freebies when designing your next web page, or choosing music to upload to your IPod. Once you realize how many internet freebies are available to you, you will wonder what you ever did without them.

Your Guide to Taking Control of TMJ

Thursday, November 29th, 2007
by Rashel Dan

Majority of us immediately seek medical help when experiencing some pain or discomfort. There is nothing wrong with this really. In fact, going to the doctor promptly may even save your life. There are some conditions however, like TMJ pain that may be solved without the use of invasive medical procedures. Before thinking of serious TMJ treatment, think first of taking control of TMJ yourself.

Different Doctors Different Solutions

There may be other reasons why you should think of taking control of TMJ on your own. One major reason though is that there is no specific certified medical area of concentration for TMJ. Experts in TMJ treatment are therefore not specifically licensed for TMJ treatment alone. This means that different kinds of doctors like oral surgeons, dentists and orthodontists may be legally allowed to look for ways to treat you. As most of us know, different doctors have different methods of doing things depending on their training and field of expertise. How would you or anyone know which treatment is best for you?

Different Conditions

Sometimes, taking control of TMJ yourself is useless when your condition is already severe. You should know though that there is no one single cause for TMJ problems. This means that the specific medical solution for one person may not work for another. You would be lucky if you had an extremely good doctor who could zero in on your real problem. There are some however who might miss the mark on your specific condition.

You Might Suffer More

There have been cases where patients complain about their doctors’ prescription being ineffective. Mouth guards and splints for example may be effective for some but may make things worse for others. It would be okay if you simply had to get rid of a mouth guard if it doesn’t work. It would be a different story if you have had surgery or have taken strong medication for TMJ.

Another way of taking control of TMJ is to try non-invasive forms of treatment first before resorting to surgery. The effects of intensive medical solutions may be irreversible and may pose some serious risks to your health.

You Might Have a Different Problem

The real logic of taking control of TMJ is that you might have a different problem that has been the cause of your TMJ problem. It is true that TMJ may be caused by real medical problems. Sometimes though, taking control of TMJ makes sense because your real problem might really be stress. If this is the case, surgery or heavy medication may not be useful at all.

If your TMJ problem is severe and you really need to see an expert, make sure that you go to a reputable practitioner. Part of taking control of TMJ is also making sure that you get second and third opinions before choosing a serious medical procedure.

Non-Harmful Solutions May Work

Other methods of taking control of TMJ would include meditation, behavior modification, yoga, stress reduction programs and special diets and exercises. All these could break your routine of stress and tension that may be contributing to your TMJ problem.
